The first thing about buying fabric online is that all monitors distort color. I try to describe colors as best I can, but you may be much more sensitive & see subtle nuances & shades that I do not.
If you are blessed with a discerning eye and if the exact shade is important it is best to buy a swatch or buy from a neighborhood store and not online. You won’t be disappointed & they’ll appreciate the business !

ITEM DESCRIPTION :

So  beautifully delicate & complex antique lace. Given to me by a dear friend who inherited them from her grandmother.

NEVER been used, these sat in a box for all these years, waiting for you !

Nothing beats the look of antique lace ! The patina of age softens the edges, the occasional holes & small tears only show that this is a decades old lace, treasured through generations to wear with pride. Not some bright brash shiny new polyster recreation of yesteryear.

You’ll adore the exquisite patterns in this lace ! Unfortunately I am not cogniscant with antique laces to correctly identify this lace type. Hopefully someone will let me know ! I will describe it to the beat of my abilities.

It looks like a very finely done Venise type lace where all the designs are embroidered & have a satin stitch raised look. They are connected to each other with embroidered bars & there is no netting or backing fabric at all ! This one has a delicate border of flowers & leaves at the bottom from which  arise 3 bee hive shaped arches. Each has a gorgeous center flower that is surrounded by smaller flowers & delicate leaves !  There is a small loopy edge finishing the arches ! Soft beige almost like a coffee stained silk georgette is all that remains of the blouse this came from. The little snaps are still in place but easily removable.

JUST FABULOUS ! 

I’d back this with a fine tulle in a strong new silk or synthetic to use as an edging or tacked onto a silk chiffon or organza dress or blouse ! How about a nude chiffon or silk, so it appears see through, for an exquisite camisole !

My fabrics are single cuts & I can’t cut large chunks out of them as it causes problems for the person sewing. I will apply the $5 towards the purchase of that fabric.
